What is Symbology Data?
Public SEC datasets show only current company ticker mappings. When companies rebrand, delist, or change symbols (such as Facebook changing from FB to META), backtests and historical SEC filing references break due to lookahead bias.
Daily SEC Ticker Diffs
Snapshots of SEC EDGAR company_tickers_exchange.json are diffed daily to capture symbol reassignments, delistings, and new listings.
Point-in-Time Intervals
Every mapping is stored as an interval with valid_from and valid_to timestamps. Query any past date to know what was traded on that day.

Immediate identifier updates sourced directly from Form 8-K Item 5.03 amendments and Form 25 exchange delisting filings.
